It's amazing to me how often God not only uses the useless, but actually chooses and prefers to use the useless. He takes the least likey and broken things and makes them work for him! All the more reason my excuses mean nothing.

I'm not sure that such would be the case with Moses, but there is an addictive quality to posing excuse after excuse in order to avoid "just doing it." It starts in youth, and then has a way of becoming the M.O. for a lifetime. We hang with others who project the same outlook of excuses for their respective immobility, and we get affirmation for such thinking. Maybe we should be making kids more aware than we do, that our companions determine in large measure who it is we are and who it is we become. And of course with the usual caveat for wisdom-making: don't preach it -- model it.
