Was that Jeff Klein or Diane Sawyer?! Great job! My thoughts... It's advertisers business to make sure that we Americans are never content. If we are content, then we're not spending our $$. Because we do spend so much $$ on non-essentials, we never feel like we have "enough". That's why 70-shoe owners in the middle of one of the wealthiest suburbs in the midwest can say "I am not rich."
Money is good and godly if well used. I don't exactly know what you mean but i understand that God says all silver and gold belongs to Him. Remember the young guy who came asking Jesus what to do to inherit God's kingdom, he was fine until he was told to sell all his wealth and give to the poor. Well folks, I think money is good when used as God wills.
"In the beginning...God." God, God, God. Everything began and ends with Him. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He alone is good, by Christ's own admission. Through Him all things were made and without Him nothing was made that has been made, according to John 1:3.
Everything around, just take a few seconds to look around...yea, that too: made by God. So how is it that sin exists? How is it that money can be used for evil? Temptation, plain and simple. We are tempted by the evil one Christ speaks of in Matthew 6:13. We are persuaded to commit evil acts that separate us from our heavenly Father because of their initial pleasure. The bible says that there is pleasure in sin for a season.
Everyone is quick to quote the "camel through the eye of the needle" story and the "money is the root of all evil" line when they see someone blessed. The camel through the eye of the needle thing is a mis-translation: either the Hebrew or Greek form of the word is very close to the same cultural form of our "rope." Which makes more sense because that's just stupid: a camel trotting on through the eye of a needle???? What's up with that? It is harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, that for a rope to go through the eye of the needle. Do you see now the parallels between a string going through the eye of a needle and a rope?
Don't you dare think though that money is evil: "The love of money is the root of all evil." The bible also states that "The crown of the wise is their wealth." But you ain't gotta believe me, look it up for yourself and study the Word on your own. But remember II Timothy 3:16: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
I HEARD YOU ADVERTISEMENT ON THE RADIO THIS MORNING AND YOU SAID ALL CHRISTIANS SHOULD GIVE TEN PERCENT OF THEIR INCOME TO THE LORD. I BELIEVE YOU SAID "SHOULD" BUT THE IMPRESSION I RECEIVED FROM THE AD IS THAT ALL CHRISTIANS "MUST" GIVE 10% OF THEIR INCOME TO THE LORD. WHERE DOES THE NEW TESTAMENT (THE COVENANT UNDER WHICH WE ARE NOW LIVING)TEACH THIS. IN FACT, IT DOESN'T. CHAPTERS EIGHT AND NINE OF SECOND CORINTHIANS TELL US HOW TO GIVE AND THE WORD "TITHE" IS NOT MENTIONED. FURTHERMORE, WE ARE UNDER GRACE - NOT THE LAW OF MOSES ("WHEREFORE THE LAW WAS OUR SCHOOLMASTER THAT WE MIGHT COME TO CHRIST...BUT AFTER THAT FAITH IS COME, WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER A SCHOOLMASTER. GALATIANS 3.24)
We can discuss the evil or goodness of money all day, but the question was "Are you rich?" I was shocked the NO ONE said they were rich. By their definitions of rich, most all Americans are rich.
But what about being rich in non-monetary ways? I am surprised no one brought that up. What about being rich in spirit? Rich in blessings? Rich in love?
can't seem to find a place in this argument so I typed this.
Gods Money
I can never leave my self with an easy answer. I must always challenge myself to look to god for the correct full answer and realize that it is about growing and understand what god wants me to see one day at a time.
All my life money has been and will be a factor. Weather to spend or to save is a question that will never end. In the same since what to do with your money can be a day to day struggle. For those who trust god with there life should in the same way trust him with there money. I suppose to basic rule when it comes to money is to simply trust god. In the story of the women who gave it all for an offering or the small amount of food that fed thousands god provides us with the insight that opportunity to do gods will can come from not only the rich but the poor and if you trust god he will provide. There is no set price on an opportunity from god. It could be as small as giving a quarter to another for a snack from the vending machine that leads to a friendship, to a conversation about faith, to a believer in god. This man who you gave a quarter goes and tells his family what god has done for him! The unstoppable domino effect continues.
My life and money: My family is supported on a missionary’s wage. Simply put we receive money on a donation basis in the place of a pay check. It is a humbling thought that my parents left there jobs where they received a sufficient pay check to further serve god thus placing our finances totally in gods hands. The roof I sit under, the heat that keeps me warm, the food that provides me energy, the internet I use to communicate.. everything is paid by people who give to my family for gods will. In the same way the money that supports us affects others. Without you I would not be typing this. “Lord let my hands and the things they hold be your tools, and my they never clinch tight in the face of sin. My I see thorough your eyes the opportunities you have placed before me and may I not waver to step out of line.”
In conclusion: Every thing we have can be used for god. People tend to look up to the rich and down on the poor. So when they look up let them see god, when they look down let them see god, and when they look to you show them god.

Jews read Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God."
